To strengthen our Electrical & Automation department, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Superintendent – Electrical & Automation.
This position combines high-level engineering expertise, worldwide field service operations, technical leadership, and project engineering within the demanding environment of the maritime industry.
Your Role: Engineer. Leader. Troubleshooter.
As Senior Superintendent – Electrical & Automation, you will operate as both:
- A hands-on field service specialist for complex troubleshooting and commissioning tasks
- A technical lead and coordinator during service operations, retrofits, and modernization projects
You will work independently on challenging assignments worldwide while also supporting and leading teams during larger projects.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults in marine electrical and automation systems
- Perform repair, maintenance, and optimization work onboard vessels worldwide
- Execute advanced troubleshooting in PLC systems, engine automation systems, alarm & monitoring systems, remote control systems, and governor systems
- Carry out software updates, parameter adjustments, and system modifications
- Support vessels during port stays, dry docks, sea trials, and emergency situations
Retrofit & Modernization Projects
- Execute electrical and automation retrofits and upgrade projects
- Integrate modern control systems into existing vessel infrastructure
- Coordinate and supervise on-site project execution and subcontractors
- Ensure safe and class-compliant implementation of modifications
Engineering & Project Development
- Develop technical concepts and engineering solutions for retrofit and conversion projects
- Prepare technical documentation, work scopes, system layouts, service reports, and technical evaluations
- Support project planning, feasibility studies, and technical cost evaluations
- Interface with ship owners, shipyards, classification societies, and internal engineering teams
Commissioning & Sea Trials
- Commission marine electrical and automation systems onboard vessels
- Execute functional testing, Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT), and sea trials
- Ensure compliance with class regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements

You combine engineering competence with practical field experience and a solution-oriented mindset.
Technical Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Marine Engineering with E&A specialization
- Extensive experience in marine electrical and automation systems
- Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of PLC systems, marine automation, engine control systems, and 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine automation
Professional Experience
- Proven experience in field service, commissioning, troubleshooting, and retrofit projects
- Experience leading service teams or coordinating projects is an advantage
- Ability to work independently under pressure and in demanding environments

- High level of flexibility and willingness to travel extensively worldwide
- Excellent reporting and communication skills
- Fluent English is mandatory
